Worst Buy of 2009

For some reason, everybody has been talking about best buys of the year for 2009 that I have forgotten all about the misses and mistakes made. LOL.

The one thing that I totally regret buying, which was a total waste of a lot of money, is:

Kiehl's Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser

Available: All Kiehl's Outlet ~$52

PS: I went to the Tampines Mall branch, and the SA was really nice. She gave lots of samples, and did things like open the door for me last minute too. (Recall Zhang Ziyi and the branded shop episode in Singapore.)

Volume: 8.0 fl. oz.

Star Properties: Aloe Vera, Chamomile, and Tiger Herb/Centalla Asiatica, which makes it very good for sensitive skin and skin experiencing temporary irritation.

Packaging
I like the way the bottle is transparent because I am obsessed with knowing how much there is left and counting/estimating how much longer it will last. I also like pump bottles as it gives better control, convenience and hygiene.

But the plastic is not the good hard plastic. I close one eye for this point, as I fully understand that lousy soft plastic bottles are recyclable (e.g. The Body Shop), rather than good hard reusable ones.

Texture and Spread
It's soap free. So don't expect foaming. I like it this way as I am very used to gel cleanser that does not foams.

But the mixture dispensed is really funny. It's somewhere in between solid and liquid, like a clump of white stuff mixed in transparent water. I don't like this point, as it makes it really hard to spread well.

Skin Irritation
For some reason, my skin reacted to it. Despite me giving it numerous chances throughout the year, I broke out every single time I use it. It really makes me doubt the Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Centalla!! Plus, the ingredients says that there is alcohol inside, though somewhere in the middle.

I feel so cheated, especially since this is not cheap.

******
I normally do try to finish using my things no matter how awful they are. But since this keeps breaking me out, there was just no way I could continue using it. It ends up that the bottle is still there, in the cabinet after only 1cm down. It's so wasteful.

So please ask the SA for a sample to try, if you have sensitive skin and really dying to try this. Otherwise, just skip it, go for more reliable drugstore brands, and save your hard-earned money.

I love it: 0 hearts.
Un-usable.

I think you can really tell how much I hate this from the way I couldn't be bothered to blog and share it for a whole year. LOL.
