January is always a good time to watch the sunsets and plan for the year ahead!
February empty beaches and cruise ships in the bay!
March enjoying the views from a distance!
April, with some Covid restrictions eased we were able to continue our walk along the Jurassic Coast from Branscombe to Beer.
May, as the day lengthens longer it is worth going further afield in the evening. We couldn't have chosen a better evening to visit Lyme Regis, the beautiful views were enhanced by a jazz concert taking place outside. A holiday in the Isles of Scilly gave us a change of coastal scenery, although the very rough crossing by boat will take some time to fade from our memories, especially when it made the tv news!
June is undoubtedly the best month for wild flowers growing along the Dorset Coast, we even found a rare clump of bee orchids, something we have never seen before!
July took us on a calmer boat trip out of our harbour giving us a completely different view of the coastline where we frequently walk.
August in West Bay
In September our unexpected visitors came in many forms! Lydia Eva a 91 year old steam drifter from Great Yarmouth stopped at West Bay on route to Lyme Regis to take part in the new Wonka film that is coming out next year. .
In a local wood we had the opportunity to view the Gaia Earth Artwork by Luke Jerram it was amazing to stand underneath it and appreciate what earth looks like from space.
The mystery bird that landed on our lawn turned out to be a Wryneck. Our local bird expert was frustrated that he missed it as he had never seen one before in West Bay.
October - there are less visitors around and there is always something to see and enjoy!
November and a day out around Lulworth.
December, wonderful scenery, sounds and lots of Santas coming down the river!

Being heavily involved in volunteering at our local visitor centre, helping to achieve 'Plastic Free Status' for our town and maintaining a number of social media outlets for these leaves me with little time for blogging as often as I would like, hopefully in 2022 my posts will be more frequent!
