How do I complete the Destiny 2 The Invitation quest? The Season of Opulence opening bounty has many stages, and each one comes with its own unique challenges. You are tasked with completing the Glorious Harvest Bounty and then solving the Imperial Treasure Map. It’s all worth doing, however, as it will drop light level 690 loot, which is perfect if you’re catching up on the Destiny 2 Crown of Sorrow raid.
We recommend that if you are starting Destiny 2 for the first time in a few months, that this quest be the very first thing to do. This way, you will gain more light levels doing your daily, weekly, and one-time activities because you will be at 690 Light. The Invitation quest is also mandatory, as you must do it to access the new Menagerie game mode, and in turn the new Raid.
Now that it’s out of the way, fly to the Tower, and you’ll notice that Benedict 99-40 is now in the Annex. Go talk to him and he will give you the quest The Invitation.
How to complete the quest The Invitation
The first step of this quest is pretty straightforward, go talk to Ikora and you will get a Surge Pack for your troubles, which is equivalent to a level 690 class item and an energy weapon.
After that, you will need to travel to Nessus to find the houseboat, which can be found north of the Watcher’s Tomb. It’s noticeable enough that you don’t miss it – go up and talk to Werner 99-40 for another Power Surge package. This one contains a Kinetic weapon of 690 power and arm and leg armor. You’ll also get the Cracked Chalice item and the Glorious Harvest quest, so let’s focus on the former for now.
How to complete the Cracked and Repaired Chalice quest steps
To complete the Cracked Chalice portion of this quest, all you need to do is defeat Cabal on Nessus. The best way to do this is to have a public event featuring Cabal – so keep an eye out for the Cabal Excavation public event in Artifact’s Edge.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be on the Repaired Chalice stage, where you must defeat 25 Vex on Nessus with melee attacks. If you’re still in Artifact’s Edge, there’s no need to leave as a group of them appear to the right of the Artifact’s Edge fast travel destination. If you want to speed things up, head to the nearby Lost Sector called The Orrey and you’ll be spoiled with Vex to beat.
Once this step is completed, you are tasked with recovering the Cabal currency, called Imperials, from the Lost Sector of Conflux on Nessus. This step is a breeze, just travel quickly to the tank and go to the lost sector. If you look at your map, this will be the only Lost Sector in the area, and two arches signify it with a dot below.
Once you have it, you will learn how to use the currency to unlock a rune slot on the chalice.
How to complete the Glorious Harvest bounty
Now you’ll want to complete the Glorious Harvest Bounty, which you would have gotten from Werner 99-40 earlier. You will get this quest from our robot friend every week, and it will reward high level loot. The stages of the quest are as follows:
- Generate Orbs of Light
- Gain experience
- Complete any challenge
The first two steps are done on their own and we recommend that you complete the daily challenge to quickly complete the third part of the quest. If you’ve done the Daily, don’t worry, as you can also complete any Weekly Challenge, Heroic Story Mission, or Ascendant Challenge.
Where to find the location of the Imperial Treasure Map
To complete this part of the quest, you will need to find the treasure chest shown on your map. If you open your directory and look on Nessus, you’ll see an X on the Well of Flame in the lower left corner.
Travel quickly to the cistern and head to the far southwest until you see a large cylindrical structure with a triangular entrance to the side. Once inside you will see a huge drop, so go down and look behind you. To your right you should see a shiny square on the ground, and to your left you should see a large boulder. Head towards the boulder, and the chest should hide behind it.
Once the chest is opened, you will get the Rune of Jubilation, which can be found in your Chalice of Opulence. Once you’ve inserted it, talk to Werner 99-40 and you’ll get another Power Surge package that should bring your overall light up to 690.
Now that you are done, you will be at 690 global lighting level. All you have to do now is complete part of the new Menagerie mode, which you will feel familiar with if you have played the Horde modes of Halo or Gears of War before.
